Friday High Fives! + Insta-Friday

You guys! Happy Friday! How happy are you that it’s Friday? I’m pretty darn happy. It felt weird having a random day off in the middle of the week, but hey, it’s cool.

Here are a few highlights from the week :( if you follow me on Instagram you may have seen these already…)

1. I had lunch with my sister and my nephew on Tuesday! I’m so blessed to only live about 40-50 minutes away from my sister, B-I-L, and adorable nephew. So we met for lunch on Tuesday and I got to hang out with the booger nugget, as I so lovingly call him. He’s going to be TWO this month. GAH! He’s getting so biggers.

2. I restocked the “D.C. fridge” this week. Yes, I have an entire fridge just for my Diet Cokes. Does this mean I have a problem? Don’t answer that.

And don’t tell me “How bad Diet Coke is for me” and yadayadayada because I’ve heard it a million times. And hey, at least it’s just Diet Coke and not like… …uhhh something way worse.

3. One of my favorite nights with my husband… ever: Going to Waffle House at 1am on the Fourth of July.  We were literally in bed ready to go to sleep and neither one of us could sleep. We realized we hadn’t eaten dinner. And I jokingly said, “Man, I’m hungry. We should just go to Waffle House.” And husband looked at me, eyes HUGE and said, “Uhh YES. Let’s go to Waffle House!” And off we went. It was awesome.

I cherish nights like that because I know that’s not something we’ll always be able to do. But for now? I am thankful for nights when we can say, “YES! Let’s go to Waffle House” at 1am and laugh the whole way there and back.

Please excuse my appearance. It was 1am and I wasn’t exactly thinking of making myself presentable for the Hillsborough, North Carolina Waffle House.

This was the moon when we got home. HUGE. So gorgeous.

4. I made Red, White, and Blue cakes! I’m no professional baker like my sister, BUT, I did make these cakes and they were delicious! I was quite excited. :)

5. I got my bauble from Meghan for the Bauble Swap at Because Shanna Said So. It’s this beautiful horizontal cross necklace. I love it! So perfect. :) Thanks, Meghan!

How was your week? Tell me a story in the comments.

I’m linking up today with Lauren at From My Grey Desk! for High Five for Friday!

xoxo all for now.

I found your blog through comments on another and adore this post! Awesome cupcakes…I too tried something new for 4th of july and I’m no baker/cooker at all….I made some star shaped jello shots. The cupcakes look delicious! Also enjoyed the tidbit on waffle house…I live with my boyfriend and sometimes we do those silly spontaneous things together, I totally live for those moments with him :) Thanks for sharing!

Yes. We really would be BFFs. I’m so glad you love your cross. Your other one should come today I think? I really went with those emails you sent me. And then the DC fridge? Woman after my own heart. I wish I lived close to my family. I would love to be able to see them just for the day or for lunch.

I love the random nights like that! That’s awesome!! And don’t worry about your diet coke habit…I’m of the opinion that every single thing we do in life is killing us (I’ve been know to say “life is killing us” haha) so why not pick the ones that are milder and enjoyable. :)

Haha I love that you have a Diet Coke fridge! I agree – everyone has a vice somewhere, better this than something really bad :) And those cakes are adorable! (PS I wanted to leave a comment on your previous post but it keeps bringing me back to this post for some reason, so I’ll just leave it here – those boots are great, I love your 4th of July festive outfit! :)

      hahaha my thoughts exactly!!

oh and ps: thank you for letting me know about the glitch! i figured out the issue… now i just have to figure out how to fix it. GAH. technical difficulties (but, for now, the little “thought bubbles” on the upper right corner of each post on the homepage DO work for commenting on an individual post… lol.. it’s just the “replies” link that’s all funky) thank you!!!!

I don’t know how I haven’t mentioned my dc obsession before now to you….but after I had doodle I started drinking 30 times more caffeine than I used to just to keep up…and 90% of it is dc….so my husband bought me a soda stream bc he got tired of running to the store to buy it for me bahahahha, can’t wait to meet up for a dc date soon :)

oh my gosh, girl, your cake is so much cooler than the cake I made! Going to Waffle House at 1am sounds exactly like something I would do! Adventure. :) And as a fellow diet coke lover, your diet coke fridge is awesome!

We’ve definitely done the 1am Waffle House trips! :)

I’m so envious that you’re so close to your sister & nephew – mine live all the way in Germany so I only get to see them a few times per year. Isn’t it crazy how quickly they grow?!

Also, my boss LOVES Diet Coke and also has his own mini-fridge solely for DC in his office :)
