Okay, now on to the business.

Striped Peplum + Jeans w/ neon belt - still being molly

I LOVE the peplum trend, but I hate the word peplum. Am I the only one? Is that weird? I really hate the word peplum. OH and I also hate the word romper. I know, both totally irrational words to hate… but I do. Okay, maybe hate is a strong word… STRONGLY dislike the words peplum and romper.

I’m weird.

Anyway. Despite my weird dislike for the word, I LOVE the actual style of the peplum. It’s a gorgeous silhouette and looks so fun, feminine, flirty, and classic. Like, a pretty peplum top, dress, skirt… so classic. So Jackie O. I love it.

Striped Peplum + Jeans w/ neon belt - still being molly Well, when I saw this awesome peplum top in the Penelope Lane Clothing shop, I knew I needed to snatch it up!

Holly, the owner of Penelope Lane Clothing, is seriously awesome. When she approached me about being an affiliate for her shop and *dun dun dun* hosting a GIVEAWAY (below!) I jumped at the chance.

Striped Peplum + Jeans w/ neon belt - still being molly Not only are the clothes and accessories in her shop ADORABLE, she’s a small business owner. She’s a mom who stepped out on her own to start her own clothing business to support herself, her family, and of course, her love of fashion. I think that is AWESOME. Seriously. I would support a small business over a HUGE chain any day!

But in all seriousness, Holly is fabulous and you HAVE to check out her stuff. She has some of the most adorable dresses and tops. And they’re all REALLY reasonably priced.

This EXACT same peplum top that I’m wearing sells for $40 on ModCloth (where it’s also sold out…). BUT, good news is it’s $27 in the Penelope Lane Clothing shop!! (and she has awesome deals and coupon codes all the time!)

Striped Peplum + Jeans w/ neon belt - still being molly Well, today, I have the pleasure of giving away at $20 credit to Penelope Lane Clothing! Keep in mind that many of the items in her shop start at $11! :) WOOP!

Just use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter! :)

Striped Peplum + Jeans w/ neon belt - still being molly Now, a little about this top. I LOVE this top… but a couple points just so you’re aware:

  • The stripes are black and taupe (which I actually like better than just black and white)- the picture can be a little deceiving and it can look black and white… but it’s more of a taupe
  • The top comes with a black belt - I like the top with the black belt it comes with, but I had fun pairing mine with a neon pink belt :)
  • The top does run a little small. I am wearing a size Large… I am usually a size medium in tops (I run anywhere from a size 8-12 depending on the brand…) BUT it was more a LITTLE small for me in the arms and in the length – there is still room in the chest area. *le sigh* So, if you have a larger chest, don’t feel nervous about it – there’s still plenty o’ room.
  • I have an unusually long torso, so I have to wear a tank underneath, but it doesn’t bother me at all. I actually like it :)
  • Be prepared to get a TON of compliments. So I actually wore this to church last weekend when I was leading worship… and I easily had 10-15 people come up to me and say how much they loved the top and asked me where I got it from. :)

This saved my day! I recently bought a black/red houndstooth peplum top from Forever 21 on an impulse. When I got home with it, I realized that my torso was much too long to pull it off. It had been hanging in my closet untouched for months until I decided to look to the internet to help me with my fashion disaster. I stumbled upon this blog, and I’m so excited because I tried it out with a tank top and jeans similar to yours, and it actually looks great!

Sorry for the ramble, just very excited that I figured out how to wear it!

no worries at all, lindsey! i’m so excited you found my blog and that you were able to get some ideas! I hope this helped and I can’t wait to hear how your attempt goes. i definitely had some major issues with it being short because of my long torso, but the tank top has saved me! now i love it!!!

Let’s be honest, Molly, we all know that I can never pass up a good pair of earrings.

Plus, I need to desensitize my ears again. Did you know that in college I completely lost all feeling in my ear lobes from my large earrings and I could wear as big as I wanted without pain? Sadly, teaching four-year-olds did not mix with large earrings and my hiatus from them allowed ear feeling to return. le sigh. ;)

Is this a sign of a problem?

I haven’t actually ever seen a peplum styled top before that I liked and that I thought might be flattering on me. But I’m in LOVE with that top! Love, love love it! It looks so pretty on you, too. And that pink belt is adorable with it!

Okay, if I added any more exclamation points in that paragraph, I’d sound like a 14-yr old girl. =)

I, too, hate the word peplum. Unfortunately, it makes me think “pepto bismol.” Love the trend though!

    Congratulations on getting featured!

This top is SO FREAKING CUTE on you! I really wasn’t into the peplum thing (I don’t like that word either!), but I could be sold on it with this outfit – you look seriously adorable, and that stripey pattern is so cute in the neutral colors. Love this whole look! :)

Love the top! I bought one (a peplum top) also this weekend at f21. I laughed when you made the comment about disliking the words peplum and romper…peplum doesn’t bother me so much but I completely agree on the word romper. When I say that word, it just makes me think of something a 2-year-old would wear. Someone needs to come up with a better word for romper :) Happy Monday

I just visited the shop and love it, thank you for sharing this! I’d have to say my fav is the hello sailor short: http://www.penelopelaneclothing.com/collections/bottoms/products/hello-sailor-short-gray-and-white
because it’s not something I would usually go for but I love a fashion challenge! I love anything nautical/high waisted. Also, CONGRATS on your wedding…that is amazing news. Can’t wait to go check it out!

Molly – this store is AWESOME. And I want that top.

Is it a local brick-and-mortar as well, or just online?
