#YOLOmondays Link-up: BOOTS + a Cowboy Boot Giveaway! – CLOSED

You guys, when the AWESOME people at Boot Barn contacted me a while back and asked if I would be interested in trying out a pair of their Shyanne cowboy boots AND hosting a cowboy boot giveaway… I think I may have squealed a little bit. And, not to mention, they wanted to send my HUSBAND a pair of Cody James boots to review as well.

Needless to say the husband became extremely supportive of my blogging after that. :)

SIDE NOTE: I loved that they included a handwritten thank you note AND some beef jerky. My husband loved the beef jerky.

I. Love. These. Boots. I know you guys know this. I wear them ALL THE TIME. I can honestly, without a doubt, say that these are THE NICEST cowboy boots I have EVER owned.

As fun as they are, I actually have been pleasantly surprised as to how versatile they are. I have had A LOT of fun pairing them with different outfits.

And a note about Boot Barn’s customer service… SO, I’m going to be honest. When I first got the boots in the mail, I LOVED them… and then I put them on. And they were tight. REALLY tight. I mean, I was afraid. I thought they were too small. They hurt my ankles and I was nervous about them. I have larger calves so they were also a little snug around my calves.

WELL, I called their customer service line and the AMAZING rep on the line had me do some things to test whether or not the boots were ACTUALLY too small or if I just needed to break them in.

You see, pretty much all the boots I own previously have either been thrifted (so they’re already broken in) or they’re not as high quality, so they didn’t need to stretch.

The Shyanne boots are full-grain leather and so there’s a lot of stretching and breaking in that has to happen.

The rep had me do some tests (like jumping, walking, pushing my toes to see where they were, etc… I probably looked really silly ) – and I passed all the “tests”. The rep then said, “They’re just tight because they’re new and need to be broken in. Trust me, they fit you.”

And the rep was right. I needed to give them time. I’ve been breaking them in for the last month and I LOVE THEM. They fit AMAZING now and they’re SO comfortable. Seriously. SO SO SO SO comfortable.

I was SO appreciative that the rep went out of her way to help me and make sure they were the right fit. KUDOS… I wish I had written down her name. :(

I’m going to talk more later about tricks to breaking in your boots, but I can honestly say that I love these and I can’t wait to save up for another pair.

…NOW for my husband’s review of HIS boots!

Molly’s Husband: “Just to be clear, I had never had any problems with my former pairs of cowboy boots. Always liked the way they looked, the way they felt, etc. However, the first time I put on the Cody James boots, immediately, there was a noticeable difference.

“They’re sturdier, they fit better in the ankle, and they don’t have as much give (especially in the ankle). These are boots that I could easily chase down bad guys in. They fit so well that you can move that much better.

They broke in easy – just took a little while to get the soles roughed up so you’re not sliding all over the place.” -Molly’s Husband.

editor’s note: doesn’t husband look so hunky in his boots? i know i’m biased, but for real.

I got my first pair of cowgirl boots this year (it seemed like it was a mandatory item to own when moving to Texas). I’d love to have another pair! :)

So… is “I don’t know” a suitable answer?! I’ve ALWAYS wanted cowboy boots and never owned a pair (except for when I was about 5. They were white… with fringe) and in all honesty, I have NO IDEA where to start when picking a pair.

If I had to choose without assistance, though, these two are my favorites:

I’m torn. Anyhoodle… I WANT THESE BAD! Really bad. Really, really bad. And I’d like for you to help me pick which ones I want :) heh

Oooh, I so totally want to win this! lol I had a pair of cowboy boots (from Target) that I never wore for about two years. Then finally last spring, I found them again and decided to wear them. I LOVED how they went with everything and started wearing them non stop. Do you want to know what happened? The sole came apart from the boot and they’re history. =/ Anyways, my favorite pair is this gorgeous brown one with the white flowers! http://www.shyanne.us/Shyanne%C2%AE-Women%27s-Floral-Embroidered-Western-Boots/2003037,default,pd.html?start=5&cgid=Boots

Not being from the South, well, not the American South anyways ;) I was never the biggest cowboy boot fan, however, I totally agree after being here for a while that they are SUPER versatile and can be used for so many different functions and types of weather and as someone that LOVES heels (well…to look at them from afar) but really is over killing my feet, boots are the perfect alternative, they make you FEEL like you have heels on and give you better posture, but are super comfortable. YEAH FOR BOOTS! Thanks Molly! ;)

I love, love, love these boots! They would look great on Fridays at school (our colors are red and white). I am a teacher and we wear “spirit wear” on Fridays, so we all wear red.
