Honorary Blogiversary + Favorite Outfits of 2012

Now, although I’ve been blogging for over five years, when I made the switch from WordPress.com to my self-hosted WordPress.org site as you see now, I somehow lost all my previous archives. (I did not know what I was doing back then. At all. Heck, I still barely know what I’m doing). So, I guess since the oldest post that lives on this blog as it is now was posted four years ago today, we’ll call today my honorary blogiversary.

And can we talk for a minute? Why in Sam Hill is my “first post” on this blog about bubble wrap? What can I say? I am weird.

Anyway. I’ve come a long way in four+ years of blogging. This blog has seen me through good times and bad times. Job losses and job gains. Moves. Marriage. The whole works. And I like that. If I want this blog to be a true representation of me, then I want it to represent ALL of me. And I’ve changed over time. So, naturally, my blog has changed, too.

But, I never would have, in a million years, thought it’d become what it’s become. And I love it. I love sharing my life, my faith, my successes, my struggles, and my attempts at fashion with you guys. And I love that you guys come back day after day and read it. It seriously means the absolute world to me.

I mean, look at this – my FIRST outfit post photo compared to my last outfit I posted yesterday:

still being molly Ironically, or coincidentally, that first outfit photo was taken in an Old Navy dressing room. The outfit photos from yesterday were taken in the parking lot BEHIND Old Navy. Total coincidence. Not planned, yet still rather comical.

Anywho. I’m rambling, per usual.

I thought, since we’re nearing the end of the year, and since today is my honorary blogiversary, and a lot of you readers may be newer readers and haven’t been around here for a while, I thought I might as well share some of my favorite looks from 2012! Sequins + Chucks, triFABBulous, & #YOLOmondays Link-Up

So, I had given a little peek last week into what I wore to the October triFABB meetup, but wanted to share the whole outfit with you today since I would also be sharing a little bit about the meetup. Or something. You know what I mean. It just made sense.

I’ll also say that as I was getting ready for the event and was putting on my pink and snazzing it up with a bit of sequins, I debated what shoes to wear. My first inclination was to go with some black heels, but then I knew my feet would be miserable during set up.

And then my next inclination was to go unexpected and wear my trusty chuck taylors. There was a moment of hesitation… a moment of “but these don’t go with my outfit” – and then I thought, “uhhh YES THEY DO! cause they are awesome!”

My chuck taylors are fun… like me! HA!

But it got me thinking… this is how fashion should be. It should be about going the unexpected route and going with your gut so that your outfit screams “YOU!”

So, sure, some of you may think I’m crazy for rocking the chucks with the sequins and tights… but to you I say… live a little! :) :)

Anywho. So, Wednesday was also our October triFABB meetup. For those of you who don’t know, triFABB (Triangle Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle Bloggers) is a group I started with Brooke and Mia to get bloggers together in the Triangle region of North Carolina!

Our meetup this month was a #ThinkPink meetup and Stella & Dot trunk show at Graffiti Frozen Yogurt in Durham, NC!

BTW: If you haven’t been to Graffiti Frozen Yogurt in Durham, you are MISSING out! Not only do they have a TON of flavors and toppings, but they have PING PONG, a jukebox, move nights, AND you can write on the walls!!

John and I went to the NC State Fair on Friday night with some new friends. Not gonna lie, as crowded as it is, as expensive as it is, and as much of a hassle as it is, I love the state fair.

Funnel cake? Yes. Fried oreos? Yes. The tractor pull? OH HECK YES.

It was awesome.

SIDE NOTE: If you’re planning on heading to the North Carolina State Fair at all the rest of this week, you NEED to check out the King BMX Action Sports Stunt Show. It’s free! And awesome. And it’s my friend’s show. (The ones who were on America’s Got Talent, for those of you who remember…).

Also, I shared the following video in my post on Saturday, but I really feel like I need to share it again. Especially since this is a state fair themed post. Personally, I think this was hilarious. Sue me. Yeah, so this happened at the fair on Friday:

Insta-Indianapolis (and your weekly roundup!)

You guys, I’ve been in Indianapolis all week for work covering CEDIA 2012. I’m still here for another day, but I figured I’d just share a few Indianapolis moments from Instagram for you. Cause it’s Saturday, why not?

  1. I rode in the AAA Awesome Taxi. It was awesome. I was excited.
  2. I drove a 3D driving simulator. It was awesome. I was excited.
  3. I took a picture in the bathroom.
  4. We had dinner at the Indianapolis Colts Grille. It was delicious. And themed.
  5. The Indianapolis Colts cheerleaders happened to be there. I took a picture with a couple of them. Because why not?
  6. Watching a CRAZY lighting storm from the 16th floor of our hotel room was pretty awesome.
