Awkward and Awesome Friday + 17 Weeks!

Ahhh Friday. One of my favorite days ending in “day.”

It’s been one of those weeks where I’ve kind of been all over the place in many senses of the phrase and so I figured why not share some awkward and awesome?

Awkward:

  • So, coming home from life group on Monday (life group is just another term for small group or bible study) John and I come home to discover that our dogs have broken open my bottle of prenatal vitamins and eaten the ENTIRE thing. Yes. My dogs ate my prenatal vitamins. To make matters worse, they had barfed in like four places in our house. One of which was the couch… which I did not discover until I SAT IN IT. Yes, I sat in dog barf. It was as terrible as it sounds and it did NOT make an already nauseous preggo lady happy.
  • I was so worried that my dogs were going to OD on prenatal vitamins – I figured 90+ pills can’t be good for a dog. Luckily they had already barfed most of them up and I then spent time with them in the backyard giving them hydrogen peroxide to make them throw up the rest. It was not pretty. READ: the dogs are just fine… they are just as happy as can be now and they act like nothing ever happened. I now know not to leave my bottle of prenatal vitamins sitting on the kitchen counter. Who knew?
  • Also, our house has smelled like dog barf all week. It is awful. We are STILL trying to clean it all. Gross, I’m aware, but I’m keeping it real here.
  • I was giving a presentation on blogging and personal branding to a class in the journalism school at UNC and I burped. Right in the middle of my presentation. I blamed it on the baby.
  • The staff at Chipotle now know that I’m pregnant and they can tell because I am eating there more often than usual.

Awesome:

    • Well, the bright side of the dog barfing on our couch and RUINING it? Husband and I went out and bought a new couch on Wednesday night! HUZZAH for new couches that don’t stink up the house!
    • I felt the baby move this week! YAY! (more details in my preggo update below)
    • I discovered that the Wendy’s by my office has the Coke machine with the 100+ combinations. You know what that means? THEY HAVE CAFFEINE FREE DIET COKE ON TAP. Which I can drink! Winning.
    • THIS. (I shared this on my Facebook page earilier this week and it literally made me BAWL my eyes out. It is awesome and I dare you to watch it and not tear up):

still being molly - maternity style: men's button-up shirt, belt, leggings, riding bootsThis week’s pregnancy update:

How far along: 17 weeks!
How big is baby: A sweet potato! (5.5 inches)
Weight gain: I honestly didn’t weigh myself this week. Woops.
Sleeping: Eh.
Food cravings: This restaurant here in town called [B]Ski’s. I want it ALL THE TIME.
Food aversions: No chocolate… still. And I also have no desire for Tokyo Express (fast food Japanese place by our house that I LOVE).
Symptoms: Same ol’ same ol’. Nausea. Sleepiness. Except my newest one is crazy painful leg cramps at night
Doctor’s appointment: Next week!
Movement: YES! I totally felt the baby move for the first time yesterday (Thursday)! I was sitting at work at my desk and I was kind of leaning forward and I thought I could feel my heart beating in my stomach, but then I realized it wasn’t rhythmic enough… it felt like a little froggy hopping around in my belly. It kept doing it sporadically throughout the day. I LOVED it! It’s still faint, but I can’t wait till those little movements get stronger.
Best moment of the week: Feeling the baby move, definitely!
What I’m looking forward to: My doctor’s appointment next week. :)
What I did / Got for baby: Nothing really this week…
What I learned this week: The leg cramps are, in fact, a symptom. And they are not fun.
Prayer requests: That this baby just continues to keep growing strong and healthy. :)

Happy Friday!

52 in 52: Russell’s Steakhouse in Hillsborough, NC

You guysssssssss, I have a man outfit in this post. YESSSS!

You’ll see more of these pics in a coming post… but I figured since this is what we both wore to dinner, I’d include it for fun. :)

If you don’t know, 52 in 52 is a weekly series that I publish on Friday afternoons where the hubs and I visit / try out a new restaurant in the area that either one or, preferably, both of us have never been to. Then we review the restaurant! The goal: 52 different restaurants in 52 weeks of marriage.  :)

Check out my hunk of a husband before dinner! Check him out in his Cody James boots c/o Boot Barn!

…And, I felt a little frumpy, but it was SUPER hot this day and I just threw this on out the door to dinner…

Seriously. How hunky is this guy?

hubs: shirt: old navy, jeans: old navy, boots: c/o boot barn, shades: ??

me: shirt: juicy couture (old), jacket: old navy, necklace: jcrew via ebay, shorts: belk, boots: ebay

Anyway, onto this week’s 52 in 52.

Ladies and gents, let me introduce you to Russell’s Steakhouse in Hillsborough, NC. Okay, I’m going to be honest with you… this place is not new to Hubs and I. Nope. It’s our favorite restaurant in the whole world (well, all of Hillsborough and the surrounding area, at least). We had our rehearsal dinner here and we hadn’t eaten here since we’ve been married… and honestly, I feel like I’d be letting Y’ALL down if I didn’t tell you about it.

Russell’s is located off of Old 86 and I-85 in the old Occoneechee Steakhouse location. The owners, Rusty and Sheila, took over the place, renovated it, and completely re-did the menu and it is now AMAZING.

Seriously.

That’s hubs probably telling me to stop taking pictures…

It’s a rustic-looking restaurant with all certified Angus beef, local chicken, and fresh fish. Honestly, the prices are really good for what you get, too.

The filet (my favorite) is only $21 for a 9oz. Yes, $21 is expensive for steak, but for THE BEST FILET EVER? $21 is not bad. At all. And their burgers and other dishes are all VERY reasonably priced. Oh and the service is great, too!

Their sides are amazing. Their shimp scampi? TO DIE FOR. All their beef. SO GOOD. Oh, and the bread? The bread! GAH! SO GOOD. …now I want Russell’s tonight.

This is the lobby of the restaurant. I didn’t get any pictures of us at dinner because it is really dark in there and my camera doesn’t do well in low lighting (dangit!) but I can assure you, Russell’s does not disappoint.

We go there a lot for dinner but like I said, they specialize in special events. They have a GORGEOUS (read: SO NICE) event room / space that we had our huge rehearsal dinner in and it was PERFECT. In fact, the place was SO nice, we had almost considered it for our wedding reception. It’s such a cool, rustic venue.

Seriously, y’all. I can’t say enough good things about Russell’s. I LOVE the people, the place, and the food. It’s such a hidden gem that I just want to scream from the rooftops how awesome it is.

So, yeah. Go. Check Russell’s out. You won’t regret it.

What restaurant should we check out next?

All for now. :)

Friday High Fives!

You guys, remember how I told you I was gonna blog twice on Fridays? Well, this is me blogging twice on Fridays. WHAT?! I know.

Well, a lot of bloggers I follow do “High Five For Friday” posts. I decided to call my similar version of “High Five for Friday” just “Friday High Fives” to celebrate awesome stuff that happened during the week and or high five for things that are GOING to happen this weekend.

I dunno, I thought it would be fun.

Anywho. This week’s HIGH FIVES:

I love these Instagrams I took at Furniture Market last weekend. I thought the Instagrams didn’t fit in the actual Market post, but thought they were fun, so I figured including them here would elicit at least ONE high-five.

HIGH FIVE FOR MARKET!

MY DAVE MATTHEWS TICKET CAME IN THE MAIL! Gah. I can’t wait for May 23rd!!!!!!

HIGH FIVE FOR DAVE!

Remember when JIMMY FALLON, BARACK OBAMA, and DAVE MATTHEWS came to UNC on Tuesday and did a show from Memorial Hall and it aired on TV complete with Jimmy saying “Duke Sucks” and wearing a CAROLINA sweatshirt? Yeah, me too. #GoHeels #GoAmerica

HIGH FIVE FOR FALLON!

Remember when WRAL REALLY paid attention and pulled this little talking point from Obama’s speech?

HIGH FIVE FOR CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!

You guys may not know this, but I love graffiti. Like, I LOVE graffiti. I think it’s beautiful. Now, there’s some UGLY graffiti, but I love graffiti. I love the art and self-expression of it and I think it gives personality to things like ugly doors. I’m just saying. I know it’s weird. But I do love it.

HIGH FIVE FOR THIS CRAY CRAY GRAFFITI IN CHAPEL HILL ALLEYWAYS!

Remember when I brought AN english muffin, AN egg, A jalapeno, and A slice of cheese to work to make this diddy for lunch? Me too!

HIGH FIVE FOR BEING OUT OF LUNCH MONEY AND WORKING WITH WHAT YOU GOT!

High fives all around! What are you high-fiving today? Do you do a high-five post on Fridays? Share your link in the comments!

Do you like this idea for these Friday posts? Feedback on this post? I’d love to hear what you think!

xoxo, all for now.

My Attempt at Fashion: Jewelmint!

You guys, I’m going to preface this by saying I never win anything. Like, I never win stuff. Not even lame things. I just don’t win things. But I still enter contests for the heck of it.

Well, a couple weeks ago on one of my fave wedding blogs, Green Wedding Shoes, Jen (the editor) was holding a JEWELMINT contest.

Now, I’d drooled over Jewelmint for a while, but through wedding planning and saving money, I couldn’t justify $29.99 to join – even though I REAAAAAAAAAALLY wanted to.

Well, I entered the GWS Jewelmint contest and low and behold… I WON. I was SO EXCITED. I won $150 credit (which is basically the equivalent of five pieces of jewelry) – PLUS there was a promo for a BOGO piece of jewelry if it was your first time. So, BOOM. SIX pieces of jewelry. FREE. No shipping. NOTHING.

I was pumped.

I mean, the MOST money I spend on accessories is like $3 in the Target or Wal-mart clearance section. Seriously.

In short, Jewelmint is a “subscription” service where you join and pay $29.99 a month – and each month you get a new piece of jewelry (of your choice) – free shipping. You can like, skip a month, and whatnot… so it’s not like you’re locked in to a contract or anything. I think you can also buy credits too… OH and you can refer people and get free credits, too.

Now, I’m not being sponsored by Jewelmint or anything – I just figured I’d explain what it is for those who are curious! Cause I had no idea what it was when I first heard about it.

You may have also heard of Stylemint (clothes) or Shoemint (shoes, duh) – and OH MAN, they’re coming out with HOMEMINT. Yeah. HOME GOODS. Designed by JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. WOOP.

Anyway, my Jewelmint prize / order came in yesterday and I was SO SO SO excited! I felt like it was my birthday, or something. I thought I’d share with you guys what I got. Honestly, even though I got all the pieces for free cause of the GWS contest, I would totally subscribe to this. I don’t think I’d do it EVERY month (cause that’s just not practical) – but for $29.99 and no shipping and REALLY good quality, unique jewelry, I’d do it again.

Just saying.

Sorry I ramble so much.

On to the jewelry:

I love the packaging!

Plume Paradise Earrings

The Shanghai Eclipse Pendant

The Atlantis Pendant

Natural Beauty Bracelets

Maasai Tribal Bangle

Garden Patch Trio Bangles

My Polyvore Board of my Jewelmint Items

Molly's April 2012 Jewelmint Items
Only thing that kinda stinks is one of the Natural Beauty Bracelets was seriously broken when I opened it… so sadly, I can’t wear it. So I contacted Jewelmint and BOOM, they’re paying the shipping for the return and giving me a credit for a new piece.

That’s a WIN, if you ask me!

I can’t wait to sport some of these!

Oh, and in the spirit of #WINNING, our CANVAS came in yesterday, too! We got 2nd place in the Katelyn James love shots contest (thank you SO much to everyone who voted!) and we got our GORGEOUS canvas. I am obsessed with it. It’s amazing. Isn’t it?!
Have you ever tried Jewelmint? Or any of the “mints” for that matter? Would you ever? Do you win contests or are you typically a contest “loser” like I am?
xoxo, all for now.
