Yeah, Girls Like Sports, Too!

It is no secret that I, Molly Stillman, am a Cleveland Browns Fan. I even publicly declared my love for the Browns on this here blog like three years ago.

That’s me in all my fangirl glory:
I LOVE the Cleveland Browns.

I love all Cleveland sports in general (heck, all sports, really), but the Browns? I BLEED Orange and Brown. For real.

Oh, you don’t believe me and my dedication?

Check out these photos of me as a baby:
that is one adorable Cleveland fan… amiright?

So yeah, it’s in my blood. As terrible as my team is, I can’t look away.

ALL of my friends and family know me as the crazy Cleveland fan. Sure, I get made fun of… which, by the way, is totally not cool – that’s like kicking someone when they’re already down… I mean, the Browns have never been good in my lifetime. What did we do to deserve such mockery?

Don’t answer that.

The only person that rivals my level of Browns fanship would be my dad.

So, what do you do with someone, a friend / family member / co-worker that loves a sports team as much as I love the Browns? Especially during a holiday or gift-giving season?

Well, you can console them for one… which we Browns fans need a lot of…

OR, you can get them team swag to make them feel at least a LITTLE bit better. You know, so they look and feel good while they cheer on their team.

My husband, being a crazy UNC Tar Heel fan is super easy to shop for. Tar Heel hat? Done. Tar Heel sweatshirt? Done. Tar Heel mouse pad? Done. Tar Heel mug? Done. You get the point.

And the same goes for me. Browns swag? Done.

For example, my husband got me this SWEET Browns bag for Christmas our first year together:But a bag like that, as awesome as it is, only serves a purpose a few days a year.

Husband and I have been gradually working on our joint home office (which you’re sort of getting a sneak peek of… it’s not totally done yet).

And I needed something to remind me daily of my love for the Browns… while also keeping myself organized. I’m kind of crazy, Type-A, a little over the top when it comes to organization.

When SportsFreak365.com asked me to review their custom NFL calendar – I. Was. Pumped.

New wall candy for my office? YES PLEASE.

The website and the program were SUPER easy to use. Once I logged in, I was able to pick my NFL team (Cleveland Browns, duh), and then I could even pick what MONTH the calendar started AND I could pick what PLAYERS and what PHOTOS went on every month and even on the cover!

They also have a TON of other gear and swag for sports fans (of ALL sports) – like clothing, car accessories, and even school supplies!! GAH! The best.

Anyway. Back to the calendar.

So, I got to put my FAVORITE players on my favorite months. It was seriously so quick and easy – AND it was delivered FOUR days after I ordered it. WHAT?!

The quality is also REALLY amazing. The images have rich color and it just looks awesome. I love it.

I mean, check this baby out (tiny NFL helmet and tiny Browns truck not included… those are mine): And, well, since I live in the great state of North Carolina which is no where near Ohio, and no where near the television viewing area for the Browns, I have to watch the games on Sunday online…

Yeah, that’s me, at my desk, watching the Browns on my computer.

Also, notice how SWEET my new calendar looks on my wall:Right? Right.

In. Love.

This is me either cheering at a touchdown or crying because we turned the ball over. Most likely the latter of the two:No, but for real.

Showing off your team spirit has never been easier! Whatever team you root for and whatever sport they play, find the gear you need at SportsFreak365.com. Just in time for the holidays, you can get 30% off any purchase using the code “Clever30.” And while you’re there, be sure to enter to win $500 toward team gear in Ditka’s SportsFreak of the Week Contest!

Are you a Sports Freak? Do you have an undying love for a team that never returns the favor? Do you resort to fan gear for the loved one(s) in your life that loves sports?

I was selected for participation in this campaign as a member of Clever Girls Collective. All opinions are 100% my own – I really am a Browns fan… as hard as that is to believe.

If I Were the POTUS… and a birthday!

[Jacket: JCrew (similar) | Sweater: Target | Polka Dot Chambray: Old Navy | Flats: Target]

Unintentionally when I was putting this post together, I suddenly realized that this was a very patriotic looking outfit. Or something. I mean you have the red, white, and blue. And leopard. You know, because every red-blooded American wears leopard. Or something.

This is not going to be a political post, because that’s just not how I roll. However, because it’s #NaBloPoMo, and I’m really trying to re-energize my writing and whatnot, I thought I’d answer today’s prompt:

If you were President of the United States [POTUS], what would be your first act in office?

OKAY, well, I’d paint the White House pink, turn the White House kitchen into a fully functioning Chipotle, have a Diet Coke fountain tap on every floor, and have a sound system running through the West Wing that played a good mix of Dave Matthews Band and Eric Church songs on demand.

I mean, I’m just saying.

Aren’t you glad I’m not running for president?

But in all seriousness, I tried to think and think and think what I would do as my first act in office if I legitimately ran for president. And the truth is, I think that at the end of the day, the president is just one person. A man (or woman) who is imperfect and simply can’t do it all. No one can. It’s quite literally, IMPOSSIBLE for one person to “do it all” and make this country into what each of us want it to be in our hearts and minds. It’s just not that simple. And that’s okay.

So, whether President Obama or Governor Romney win today’s election, the truth is, they are each just one man – men who are both great leaders who are both very smart, but both are very flawed. And when we place too much stock in just one man, we are only going to be disappointed and let down.

I encourage you to respect each other’s differences today (and every day), be civil with one another, and pray for our leaders. Pray for President Obama and pray for Governor Romney – they’re gonna need it. Big time. Now, in the famous words of Forrest Gump – that’s all I have to say about that.

I turn the question over to you: what would YOU do as your first act in office if you were to be elected president?

So yes, today is Election Day. However, today is also my sister’s birthday!

This is Bridgid and me on her wedding day in 2006: And this is me and Bridgid on my wedding day last February:Even though Bridgid and I are far apart in age, we’ve always been close. It’s been such a blessing living so close to her these past three years. She’s an AMAZING sister, an even more amazing mother to my nephew, and an even MORE amazing wife to my brother-in-law. She’s one of the most caring and loving people I know. We’ve been through A LOT in our lives, but it’s only brought us closer.

Bridgid, I don’t say it often enough, but you mean the world to me and you’re an amazing sister and I’m so lucky to have you in my life. I love you! Happy Birthday!!

And Happy Tuesday, everyone!

My Social Media Roommates + #YOLOmondays Link Up

You guys, I’m guest posting for the fabulous Angela of Head to Toe Chic today! You should check it out!

On to today’s post! Now, I love social media. I think, when used correctly and responsibly, social media can be such a blessing and a GREAT way to connect with people. Anywhere.

Well, last Friday night, husband and I were going out for a casual date night for my “official” birthday dinner, and I COULD NOT decide what to wear. I was stressing out. For real.

So I thought, “Man, I miss being in college and having girl roommates whom I could run in to their rooms and ask for opinions.”So, I thought, I’ll do the next best thing. I’ll ask my social media roommates.

I took pics of my outfit options (photo below). Combined them in #PicFrame, and then posted the picture to my Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts:

Then, I went and finished getting ready… you know I did my hair and my makeup.

Within MINUTES, between the three accounts, I had close to 40 responses from people.

“1!” “2!” “3!” – It was awesome!

My husband also happened to see the picture on twitter and asked if his vote counted. Of course. His vote was most important! Well, he happened to agree with the majority… and outfit #3 won!

So, here’s what I wore for casual date night:

Outfit Deets:

And you know, had to blow out a candle in some sherbet. No big deal.

So, have YOU ever turned to your social media roommates? Do you love social media?

Speaking of social media. It’s NOW time for the #YOLOmondays LINK-UP with my awesome co-host Carly from Lipgloss & Crayons! This is such a great way to get to know other bloggers!

Love seeing y’all linked up every week. :) Grab the button :) (code is available in the sidebar, or you can just right-click and save the above button)

The Rules for #YOLOMONDAYS Link-Ups:

  1. Grab a button and / or post a link back here in your BLOG POST (NOT your blog’s main page) so your readers know what all the #YOLOMONDAY-ness is about. We love you guys linking up and we do go through and read all your posts… so if you do not give credit, we will have to remove your link. That’s no fun, right? Right. So be nice and share a link! :) Pretty please?
  2. Link your blog post up using the linky tool below! It can be ANYTHING! An outfit post, a giveaway, a story, a recipe, whatever. Why? Cause it’s #YOLOMONDAYS!
  3. Visit a blog or four that you’ve never been to before and leave a #YOLOMONDAYS comment – you never know, you might “meet” someone new that you will lurve!
  4. Have fun! Cause #YOLO!

A Gift

Kiria, Kenya - Molly StillmanYou guys, we leave for Kenya in less than a month. Oh. My. Goodness. I can’t wait to go back. A piece of my heart has been in that village ever since I left last year and have been itching to go back. And I can’t wait to lead the mission team with my husband this time. What an honor.

If you’re new to the blog, you can read about my whole experience through all the posts I’ve written here.

Thank you SO MUCH to all of you who have supported our mission trip. You’ve supported us through your words of encouragement, prayers, and donations. You have NO IDEA how much it means to us.

Well, I’m going to try and get through all of this as quickly as I can. And I promise to be back to your regularly scheduled bits, outfits, and awkwardness tomorrow.

Uhhh, so, well, how do I say this? Today happens to be my birthday.

I’m not really a birthday person anymore. It’s a boring age. But whatever.

Of course there’s stuff I want and stuff I’d love to get, but it’s all just stuff. No STUFF can  compare to what really means the most to me right now – going back to serve the people of Kiria, Kenya. To be honest, fundraising for two people (me and the husband) has been really challenging. And truth is, we’re short. We still need to raise the money to get there.

So, I am humbly and prayerfully asking for a birthday present:

Would you support our trip?

And, because I can’t do anything normal, you certainly don’t have to just make a straight donation.

You can support us by:

  • Sponsor my blog! 100% of my sponsorships go to our mission trip.
  • Buy some clothes from my closet! 100% of the proceeds from my closet go to our mission trip. (more on that below)
  • Make a donation. Email me for more information about donating.
  • And, of course, prayer. Pray for our team. Pray for humility. Pray that we’re able to serve the people of Kenya and shine God’s glory in the process. Pray for our health. Oh, and pray for me and the squatty pottys. I hate those things.

Okay now, so you wanna buy something from my closet? Well, there are some pieces up in my shop, but of course I thought it would be fun to go through old photos and show you pictures of me wearing some of the pieces I’m selling.

SO, here are some old photos for you to laugh at (I really have a serious issue with taking a serious photo) - and the link to the item in my store:

1. Purple fancy special occasion dress – $50 (I’m 2nd from the left)

2. JCrew Sophia Bridesmaid dress (size 10) – $50 – I am singing in a wedding in this photo. I really don’t look attractive when I sing. It was also REALLY cold. Freezing. So I look awkward and cold. Sad times.

3. Madras American Eagle Dress – $17 – this is literally the only picture I could find of me in this dress. I am holding a stray cat. Sue me. Cardigan not included.

4. JCrew White Cotton Halter Dress – $17 – I have ABSOLUTELY no idea why I am standing so awkwardly. And shockingly, this was like two days before my husband and I started dating. My husband is in this picture. At the time he was my coworker.

5. Strapless Lace White House / Black Market Dress – $50 – I’m pictured 2nd from the right. This was at a Christmas party. So fancy now.

6. Argyle Short-Sleeved Sweater – $3 – this photo was taken in Las Vegas circa 2009 – it is old and I can’t find a better photo of the sweater. Forgive me.

7. JCrew Halter Cotton Dress – $35 – I was at an art museum and took a photo of myself. Why? I have no idea.

8. LOFT Floral Dress – $14 – This, too, is the only photo I can find of me in the dress. It was at my sister’s rehearsal dinner. I am SO TAN because we got spray tanned that day. Oh man.

9. Tailor New York White Halter Top – $10 – This picture was taken my senior year of college. That was like… A LONG TIME AGO. But yeah, that’s the top. Look how crazy young (and small) I look. GAH.

10. Purple Express Shirt – $6.50 – That’s a photo of me wearing the shirt while doing an improv show. Yes. I do / did comedy. Shocked? Me neither.11. Lilly Pulitzer Halter Dress – $65 – I’m on the left. Just saying. So #frattastic.

12. Milly Dress – $150 – I’m on the left. This picture was also taken in college. SUPER long time ago. This is easily the nicest piece of clothing I have ever owned. But I can’t wear it anymore. It makes me SO SAD. I wore it MAYBE twice. It’s SO PRETTY. Blergh.

So there you have it. Some awkward photos from my past (please do not judge me) and some last minute ways to support our mission to Kenya.

Thank you all… SO MUCH… in advance for ALL of your support, prayers, encouragement, and whatnots. We couldn’t bless and serve the people of Kiria, Kenya without you, and in turn, we are so blessed.

Questions? Let me know. I’m an open book.
