Sequins + Chucks, triFABBulous, & #YOLOmondays Link-Up

So, I had given a little peek last week into what I wore to the October triFABB meetup, but wanted to share the whole outfit with you today since I would also be sharing a little bit about the meetup. Or something. You know what I mean. It just made sense.

I’ll also say that as I was getting ready for the event and was putting on my pink and snazzing it up with a bit of sequins, I debated what shoes to wear. My first inclination was to go with some black heels, but then I knew my feet would be miserable during set up.

And then my next inclination was to go unexpected and wear my trusty chuck taylors. There was a moment of hesitation… a moment of “but these don’t go with my outfit” – and then I thought, “uhhh YES THEY DO! cause they are awesome!”

My chuck taylors are fun… like me! HA!

But it got me thinking… this is how fashion should be. It should be about going the unexpected route and going with your gut so that your outfit screams “YOU!”

So, sure, some of you may think I’m crazy for rocking the chucks with the sequins and tights… but to you I say… live a little! :) :)

hahahahaha well, i tried… this picture is just scary:

Anywho. So, Wednesday was also our October triFABB meetup. For those of you who don’t know, triFABB (Triangle Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle Bloggers) is a group I started with Brooke and Mia to get bloggers together in the Triangle region of North Carolina!

Our meetup this month was a #ThinkPink meetup and Stella & Dot trunk show at Graffiti Frozen Yogurt in Durham, NC!

BTW: If you haven’t been to Graffiti Frozen Yogurt in Durham, you are MISSING out! Not only do they have a TON of flavors and toppings, but they have PING PONG, a jukebox, move nights, AND you can write on the walls!!

Check out some photos from the event! (You can check out ALL of the photos on the triFABB blog!)

I think Brooke would have made a great Vana White, don’t you?

This is a reaction shot of me WINNING one of those claw games! I couldn’t believe it! I NEVER win those!

My victory dance.

Our group!

Crystal, Gwynne, Angela, Terri, Carrie, Mia, Me, Lindsay, Brooke, and Elise! (not pictured but was there: Lindsey and Abbi!)

Sunshine + #YOLOmondays Link-Up!

You guys, it’s not technically fall until Friday, and I am going to wear shirts the color of sunshine as long as I durn well please. Also, I’d just like to go ahead and throw this out there – I’m going to wear lots of color this fall and winter.

Sure, I’m going to wear the blacks, browns, navys, oxbloods… but the people that say you can’t wear colors like white, yellow, PINK, blue, purple, and teal in the winter time… yeah, THOSE are the people that are affected by S.A.D.

You think I’m joking. But it’s true. The next time you see someone totally down in the dumps in the winter time… notice what color they’re wearing. I’ll bet you a burrito that they ain’t wearing hot pink. Or teal. Or purple.

They’re probably wearing beige. Or mauve. Something boring.

As my dad always said, “You can never be sad when you’re wearing yellow.” (Or purple, pink… just insert any fun color in the place of yellow.)

My dad is a wise man.

Happy Monday, y’all!

Psychedelic

Outfit Deets:

You guys, when I walked into work yesterday, my co-worker said, “Well, HELLOOO, 1968!” I’m aware. I get it. This outfit is bright. My co-worker was / is correct. But so what? I’m bright. I’m fun. I love pink. I love glitter. I love this blouse. I love things that sparkle.

Sue me.

Now, where are my lava lamps and Beatles LPs?

Happy Wednesday, y’all! Linking up today with The Pleated Poppy, Rolled Up Pretty, Transatlantic Blonde, and Sailor Spy!

FASHION-SPIRATION: Purple and Orange

INSPIRATION: Christine from Hello Fashion (left) - ME! (right)

You guys, contrary to what you may think from the photo above, I am not a Clemson fan. I don’t hate Clemson, I just wouldn’t call myself a “fan.”

NOW, on to the topic at hand: I definitely am not one to be a “fashion copycat” – not that I think being a “fashion copycat” is bad, at all, but I like to think that I have my own style. I like to look at trends, styles, fashions and see how I can make them my own – you know, put my own twist on things. In the hopes that I, in turn, can inspire someone else to take that same style I wore and make it their own.

‘naw mean?

BUT, one thing I have loved doing is looking at what some of my favorite fashion bloggers or other style inspirations are doing – colors they’re putting together, fabrics, patterns, cuts, etc.

Well, Christine Andrew over at Hello Fashion is definitely one of those women. I LOVE her style. It’s so simple, yet feminine, classic, and FUN. And I LOVE the way she uses color in her looks.

I saw this outfit she put together earlier this month, immediately pinned it, and then waited for the day when I could figure out a way to make it my own.

So, here’s my recreation of Christine’s look (pictured above). What do you think?

I loved the purple and orange in the look, so I pretty much kept that the same. I didn’t have an orange necklace, but I loved that my bag had purple, orange, and TEAL in it, so I pulled the teal out of the bag and popped on my teal bubble necklace.

I also kept the nude / blush flats the same as in Christine’s photo – when you’re wearing that many colors, you wanna keep your footwear neutral as the attention should NOT be on your shoes.

I also LOVE my Jean Jacket. If you’ve followed my blog for awhile, you’re aware of this fact. I’ve had this jean jacket for close to 10 years and I STILL wear it all the time. I love how it can tone down an outfit. Now, I didn’t wear it much that day because it is getting HOT in North Carolina, but I wanted you to at least see how much I love the way it can tone down the outfit.

Outfit Deets:

So yeah, what do you think? How would you wear this? How would YOU make it your own? Where do you look for inspiration?

xoxo, all for now.
