Friday Fives + 27 Weeks!

h54f-may-10_0848

  1. This photo basically shows four reasons why I can’t have nice things. I see a mustache pillow, I must make faces with it.
  2. Headed to church with husband and the in-laws on Sunday! We went to Newton, NC (where my husband is from) for the weekend and it was great spending time with family.
  3. I can’t WAIT to show you guys the before and after of this old dress re-do. Seriously! It turned out SO awesome – this photo doesn’t even do the finished product justice. This is only the beginning!
  4. Husband and Tater. Be still my heart, I love them.
  5. Simple things. The other night I was just sitting on the floor, the radio was playing, husband was working on the nursery, the doggies were snuggling and it just felt peaceful.

What was YOUR favorite moment of the week?

27-week-maternity-photo

How far along: 27 weeks – I’m in the THIRD trimester! AH!
How big is baby: About 2.5 pounds and about 15 inches long (or so)
Weight gain: About 25 pounds
Sleeping: Coming and going. Honestly still not great. I had a HORRIBLE night’s sleep the other night… Once I woke up I just couldn’t go back to sleep.
Food cravings: Peanut butter and jelly sandwich
Food aversions: None really
Symptoms: Back pain. Headaches. Dizziness.
Miss Anything?: Not really.
Doctor’s appointment: I had my glucose screening test last week and I passed! PHEW! But, I did find out that my iron is low so I’m now on an iron supplement (the explanation for the dizziness). I am now up to seeing my midwife every two weeks! We’re THAT far along!
Wedding Rings: Still on!
Clothes: 95% maternity clothes and I have discovered the beauty of stretchy tops from Target.
Movement: SO MUCH MOVEMENT. This kid is a party animal!
Best moment of the week: Spending time with my husband and in-laws last weekend and husband actually starting on the nursery. SO EXCITING!!
What I’m looking forward to: My first Mother’s Day as a mama-to-be!
What I did / Got for baby: We started on the nursery this week! HUZZAH!
What I learned this week: That if, God forbid, the baby were to be born this week, his/her chances of survival are good and only will continue to be better as the weeks progress. While I want baby to stay in there as long as it needs to, it does feel good knowing that if something were to happen, baby would be okay.
Prayer requests: We received some family news this week that is tough – I don’t want to go into too much detail – but I just ask for prayer for healing for a member of my family. We know that God is the great Healer and that His plans are greater than ours, but the more prayers being lifted up, the better.

Fives + 26 Weeks!

A quick thank you for all of the love and support and for your countless emails and messages in regards to my post yesterday. Y’all only fuel my fire for doing what I do.

  1. Tater decided she wanted to join John and I for lunch outside over the weekend. Silly dog.
  2. We went to a wedding this past weekend! What girl doesn’t love a great wedding?
  3. I found a four leaf clover! I’ve never found one before, I was so excited!
  4. I got to see my sweet friend Brooke for a hot second on Thursday and she was just the face I needed to see at that moment. I really treasure our friendship. :)
  5. Pregnant ladies love warm chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream. Okay, all ladies love warm chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream. Okay, everyone loves warm chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream. :)

maternity-style-black-white-dress-bubble-necklace_0812How far along: 26 weeks
How big is baby: A head of lettuce – 2 pounds and about 15 inches long (or so)
Weight gain: Not sure, I’ve actually fluctuated a lot in the last week… I’m thinking at around 25 pounds.
Sleeping: Waking up two times a night on average right now… a drastic improvement from five to six times a night.
Food cravings: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups :)
Food aversions: None really
Symptoms: My body is just beginning to hurt – mainly my back (a lot). I’m trying to stay as active as I can – taking long walks with my husband and our dogs, but it’s tough. It’s also been tough this week because it’s rained so much!
Miss Anything?: A full night’s sleep.
Doctor’s appointment: I have my glucose screening test today and my 26 week checkup
Wedding Rings: Still on!
Clothes: 95% maternity clothes
Movement: A little less movement than last week, but still a lot. Also, baby gets hiccups a lot and it’s so dang cute.
Best moment of the week: Spending some QT with my husband and getting some answers to some prayers we’ve been praying :)
What I’m looking forward to: Heading to my in-laws this weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day a little early and work on the dresser for the nursery!
What I did / Got for baby: Started actually clearing things out of the room that will be the nursery! Huzzah!
What I learned this week: The baby’s immune system is rapidly developing during this time. Also the lymph nodes, thymus (what the heck is that?), and spleen. Go baby, go!
Prayer requests: That my glucose screening would come back normal today! And I also ask for some prayer for a few friends of mine who are struggling with infertility right now. They are a gentle reminder that I need to not only be praying for them constantly, but also just another gentle reminder that I’m so blessed with this life that’s growing inside of me!

Happy Friday!

+++

It’s been a great week! I couldn’t choose just five… so I chose six. Sue me.

Here are just some of the highlights:
high-five-for-friday-march-22_0482

1. Frozen Thin Mints and a cold glass of skim milk is my jam. Thin Mints aren’t even my favorite Girl Scout cookie, but when they’re frozen, they’re just that much better.

2. I can’t handle the cuteness of our dogs. Seriously. Sometimes I think it should be illegal the way they snuggle.

3. Audrey girl got a haircut this weekend! She looks like a puppy again every time I get her sheared.

4. Tater confiscated Audrey’s favorite toy and was holding it hostage. Audrey was not pleased.

5. I have two brackets this year (which are already busted). The top is my “real” bracket – even though I know it’s not totally realistic, but I just can’t bet against Carolina. And that bottom one? Yeah, that’s my dream bracket in which every Carolina / Duke fan’s heads explode.

6. We had our anatomy scan! It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced in my life. Our baby was SMILING. SMILING! I mean, come on. Now THAT cuteness, I can’t handle.

still being molly maternity style: lace dress, navy cardigan, vera bradley belt

Pictures from our anatomy scan this week – look at the smile and the yawn!

high-five-for-friday-march-22_0483How far along: 20 weeks – I’m halfway there! Ahh!
How big is baby: 10 inches and about 11-12 ounces – small cantaloupe.
Weight gain: About 10-12 pounds so far.
Sleeping: I wake up every time I have to turn over… which is like every hour.
Food cravings: Milk, ice cream, dairy. And I have seemed to rediscover my love for kosher dill pickles. I’m a walking pregnancy stereotype.
Food aversions: Japanese food.
Symptoms: The nausea seems to be letting up A LITTLE bit… I’m still nauseous if I go longer than like 3-4 hours without eating.
Doctor’s appointment: We had our anatomy scan yesterday. The baby was moving around and smiling and yawning. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. It’s really such a testimony to how great our God is – that He has given us such a precious gift – the gift of LIFE.
Wedding Rings: Still on!
Movement: I feel little movements here or there, but it turns out my placenta is actually on top of the baby rather than underneath, which is making it more difficult for me to feel the baby move. The doctor said I should feel movement in the next few weeks as the baby gets bigger.
Best moment of the week: Seeing our precious baby move around at the anatomy scan.
What I’m looking forward to: Really getting to feel those movements. I just can’t wait!
What I did / Got for baby: After our anatomy scan, husband and I went to the store and bought the take home outfit for the baby. It’s the cutest little footie onesie with monkeys on it. Not gonna lie, it definitely was difficult to find gender neutral stuff.
What I learned this week: I thought it was really interesting that the location of the placenta affects how you feel the baby moving, etc. Stuff I just never knew.
Prayer requests: Sleep, sleep, and more sleep. Continued prayers for health and safety of the baby – I want this baby to continue to grow healthy and strong. And, most importantly, husband and I are praying for guidance and wisdom that the Lord would make us good parents – I’ll be honest, the idea of being a parent is both so exciting, but also so terrifying all at the same time.

Happy Friday. What are you celebrating this week?

Moments + 18 Weeks!

Happy Friday!

1. Brooke and I were mint jeans twins this weekend. I love getting to spend girl time with my sweet friend (especially when cheese fries are involved) – and it just so happened we were both sportin’ the mint jeans. :)

2. My craving for strawberry stuff manifested itself in this giant strawberry cupcake from Whole Foods this week. It was absolutely as delicious as it looks.

3. Husband and I had a much needed date night on Tuesday and he took me to this boutique in town called Scout and Molly’s so I could use the gift card he got me for Christmas. Since their clothing doesn’t exactly fit me right now, I snagged these GORGEOUS quatrefoil and pearl earrings by mollybeads. mollybeads at Scout and Molly’s for Molly. I think it was meant to be.

4. No date night is complete without post-dinner Sweet Frog.

5. When I get home from work, it takes me about 2.5 seconds to change into more comfortable clothing. This week’s choice? A shirt that says “nom nom nom,” some red leggings, and a pair of John’s socks. I am the epitome of class, I tell you. :)

Now for my 18 week pregnancy update!

still being molly maternity style: mint jeans, mint cowboy boots, chambray tunic, white denim jacketHow far along: 18 weeks!
How big is baby: A large mango! (6-8 inches)
Weight gain: Eh, it’s looking like I may have gained a little too much this week. I have a doctor’s appointment today so I will be interested to see if I’m too far ahead or right on track.
Sleeping: Still eh. All I want to do is sleep but sleeping ain’t coming easy right now.
Food cravings: I still want [B]Ski’s. ALL THE TIME. Also SKIM MILK. Like, I could drink a gallon of skim milk in a day (which I won’t do, because then I’ll get sick… but you know what I mean). Also, strawberry-flavored stuff – like strawberry ice cream, strawberry cupcakes, etc.
Food aversions: I have absolutely no interest in eating any kind of Japanese or Chinese food. Weird. I know.
Symptoms: Same, same, I know you’re name. Nausea. Sleepiness. Except now you can add a little moody on top of that. Ew.
Doctor’s appointment: Today!
Movement: So I felt the baby move a bunch late last week and now this week nothing. So, hurmph.
Best moment of the week: A date night with the husband earlier this week – it was SO needed.
What I’m looking forward to: My doctor’s appointment today!
What I did / Got for baby: Honestly, spending time with my husband… QUALITY time was needed and totally for baby. :)
What I learned this week: The baby can distinguish between voices now and the baby is also yawning and hiccuping and moving all around… I just can’t really feel it.
Prayer requests: For sleep. I need a good night’s sleep. Seriously. And for baby to continue to grow strong and healthy!
