Dainty Biker Chick. Or is it Dainty Biker Chic?

Often times there are styles or trends that I see on someone else and go, “No way, Jose. No way could I pull that off.” I enjoy seeing them on other people, but me? No.

But then somehow there’s a voice inside of me that says, “Just try it. Make it your own.” So, I do. I mean, part of my whole attempt at including fashion in this blog is to show regular gals that YES, you can pull off that trend – it’s just all in how you approach it.So, when I saw this Joanna Hillman look (photo below on the left), I KNEW I wanted to give it a shot. I had the lace dress. Which I’ve worn A TON (more examples here, here, here). I had the black tights and black boots. But I didn’t have the leather jacket. Then I spotted this leather jacket on Oasap and said BOOM. DONE.

Word to the wise: the jacket is fabulous and I love it, but it does run a wee small. I am a size 10-12 and this jacket is an XL and it just fits. Just an FYI.

So, while I may not be blonde and a size 00 with legs for days like Joanna, I still LOVE the way my look turned out. I felt like a dainty biker chick. But then I thought, hey, it’s fashion. It’s dainty biker chic. Get it????

Oh well, this may be my new favorite outfit.

Oh, and I also added the matching turtleneck sweater under the dress for added warmth and layering – the heat in our office isn’t working right now and it gets COLD. If you didn’t know, you would have thought the dress WAS a turtleneck dress.

But for real. Seriously. If I can pull off this look and these trends, so can anyone. It’s just all in how you pair it. [Dress: Tulle via Fred Flare | Bubble Necklace: eBay (similar) | Faux Leather Jacket: c/o Oasap | Turtleneck Sweater: JCrew (old) | Tights: Express | Wedge Boots: Target]

So, how would YOU wear Joanna’s look? Would you rock a little leather and lace in the colder months? How do you approach “unapproachable trends?”

If I’m being totally honest with you – I’m going to say that this is probably my new favorite outfit ever. I know it’s a little similar to an outfit I wore back in September, but for real. I love this outfit. It is so me. The layering, the lace, the pearls, the boots, the denim jacket – it screams ME.

It was one of those outfits that I felt like a rockstar in all day. I walked with a little bit of extra confidence.

EVERY woman needs that outfit. Shoot, every MAN needs that outfit. You know the one I’m referring to. The one that you literally put on, and immediately you feel like a superstar. Like you can conquer the world. Like nobody can hold you down. Oh no. You got to keep on moving.

Quick! Name that song!

I’m rambling. What’s gotten into me today? I don’t even know, yo.

What I DO know is I love this outfit. But I already said that.

Okay, no more rambling.

Happy Wednesday!

You guys, when I put on this outfit, I immediately thought, “Does this outfit look too “Little House on the Prairie”?

And then I remembered… “Wait a tick! I freaking LOVE “Little House on the Prairie!” Win!”

And, since this outfit was soooo Laura Ingalls Wilder, or something, I knew that the corn field near my house would be the perfect ‘setting’ for these pics. Call it cliche, call it unsurprising… I call it corny.

Get it?! Get it?!

Okay. Dumb joke. I tried. Good thing I have a day job.

Overall, I like to think it’s creative. In any event, I had fun.

All I need now is a covered wagon and my pa.

In case you’re curious, I’m over there talking about my {attempts} at being preppy. Or… really I guess you could say I talk about what it means to be preppy in the south. Or something? Sometimes I just talk and I don’t know what words are coming out of my mouth. Like right now.

ALSO, in case you were interested in Shopping my Closet for Kenya, there are items BACK in my closet! WOOP!

Okay, I’m going now.

Let’s, together, zipadeedoodah right over to Christine’s blog.

Happy Thursday, y’all! TOMORROW IS FRIDAY! And don’t worry… I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled bits and antics tomorrow. :)
