[Life Lately]

I promise that this will never be a blog that just regurgitates Instagrams. Not that that’s bad or anything, it’s just not my thing.

BUT, with that being said, this is my blog and I like to get a little personal up in here and so, naturally, sharing bits and pieces of my life is going to happen every now and then. Is that cool with y’all?

Plus, I can say a little bit more here than I can on Instagram. Or something. Right? Right.

Anyway, let’s get to it.

+++

1. Brooke and I with our Gigi’s cupcakes to celebrate her blogiversary! I have met so many amazing people through blogging, but especially through the triFABB group. Seriously. And I have just been so blessed by my friendship with Brooke – I love this girl.

And if you aren’t reading Brooke’s blog, you need to go check it out. She is one SERIOUSLY stylish momma AND she is hilarious. But what I love about her is not only her fearless approach to fashion (this girl can rock printed pants like there’s no tomorrow), but also her huge heart.

Anyway. Enough doting. But yeah, she rocks.

2. You know you’re an adult when you get excited about a Christmas present like this. My sweet husband got me a new light for our kitchen for Christmas and he installed it last weekend!

I have HATED, LOATHED, DESPISED that light on the left in our kitchen since I moved in after we got married. For real. It felt like you were about to perform surgery it was so fluorescent. It was awful. And now we have a new light in the kitchen that is pretty and warm and awesome! It’s the little things, right?

3. Husband and I have been doing some serious de-cluttering and organizing around here as of late. And that includes going through old boxes of stuff from my childhood and figuring out what is actually worth keeping or what is just taking up much needed space. We live in a tiny little cape cod style house and there is ZERO storage.

But yeah, so we were going through old boxes and I found this gem (pictured below). THIS gem happens to be the ORIGINAL copy of my infamous “Sidewalk Speech” that I gave to the Herndon Town Council when I was eight and a half.

Yeah, I wrote it all by myself (can you tell?) and I got dressed and demanded that my parents take me to the Town Council meeting that night and I stood on that podium and gave that speech.

It took another two or three years, but we did eventually get sidewalks. I even carved my name in them when they were being put down so that I’d be forever remembered in our neighborhood as the girl who got the sidewalks. HA! I was a persistent kid.

4. SO PUMPED TO OWN THIS BOOK. I know, I know, you’re thinking, “Really, Molly? It’s a book!” Well, I’ve wanted this book since it came out, but it just wasn’t in my tight budget to get it – but Santa brought me a Barnes & Noble giftcard and thus, the book was no longer a dream, but a reality!

If you don’t read the Young House Love blog, you are missing out. I love them!

Here’s to so many fun, easy, and cheap DIY projects!

5. I wore this to Waffle House on New Year’s Day. Yeah, I keep it real up in this place, y’all. Sometimes, I don’t want to “get dressed” and so an old t-shirt, old boots, and track pants are my solution. Sue me.

I will have you know that my husband and I were the dressiest people in the Hillsborough, North Carolina Waffle House on New Year’s Day. That is a fact.

What about you? What’s going on in YOUR life lately?

My Attempt at #FASHION: Cobalt & PINK! so fancy.

you guys, this is my pensive look.

You guys. I have no idea what it is about this outfit, but I feel so fancy in it. I know it’s shorts, and a t-shirt, but I wore this outfit and I felt dang fancy.

Maybe it’s the COBALT blue? Well, you could argue it’s ROYAL blue. So I was like royalty! Or something. I refuse to say that this shirt is Duke blue (or dook blue as my husband would say… sorry Elise :) ) I like to think it’s CNU blue! GO CAPTAINS! Anywho, I like wearing this color.

Also, if it’s not the shirt, it could be these shorts. I got them on super sale at the JCrew outlet a couple weeks ago. I got these puppies for $12 on sale and marked down from almost $60! WIN!

Or, if it’s not the shorts, it could be the cobalt wedges that I snagged from the 70% off clearance rack at Target. That is the BEST PLACE TO FIND SHOES. Oh man. These hot COBALT / CNU blue wedges were a whopping $6.58 at my Target… down from $30! YESSSSS.

OR, if it’s not the wedges, or the shorts, or the t-shirt, It could be the PINK. Pink is my fave color. DUH. And I love neon pink.

Needless to say, I FEEL FANCY, YO.

Please excuse my sorry excuse for hair in this post… the North Carolina humidity is brutal on her sometimes and it was especially true on the particular day I wore this fancy thing I called an outfit.

also, i’m not going to apologize for it, but i am going to let you know that yes, i am aware i am pale. this is not a new development, but instead of getting burnt to a crisp every summer, i choose to protect my fair skin with like 19081028 SPF and rock the “fair, delicate matron” look. or something.

standard.

Outfit Deets:

What do you think? Do you feel FANCY in certain outfits? Or certain colors? What color looks REALLY good on you or what color do you LOVE to wear?

Also, I’m linking up with the FABULOUS Sarah over at Simply Sarah for her PINK link-up. :) So much pink so much fun!

xoxo all for now.

LIFE and Keeping it Real.

You guys, this is what I look like right now:

molly straight loungingWell, not right now, because you’re reading this after this picture was taken and this post was written.

But this is how I look as of Wednesday night.

I’m gonna keep it short and keep it real with you for a second.

I’m a happy person. I’m a positive person. I see things glass-half-full. But sometimes life happens and it’s okay to not put a cute outfit on and it’s okay to eat half a Digiorno pizza and drink about six Diet Cokes.

Tomorrow (well, you’re reading this on Thursday, so, well, today) I’m taking a HUGE exam for work. It’s called the CTS exam – Certified Technology Specialist – basically a certification for the AV industry. That was nerdy-tech speak you just witnessed. So, I’m studying. Have been and will be all night. I feel like I’m in college again, or something.

Anywho. I’m stressed about the test, but that’s okay. I’m going to study as much as I can, dress for success, and walk in that testing center with my head held high and all the confidence in the world. If I pass it, awesome. If I don’t, it’s not the end of the world.

And, on a separate, somewhat unrelated note: I just want to remind you to hold on to the people in your life whom you love and who helped to make you the person you are today.

A dear friend of my family passed away yesterday after a short, but brutal fight with cancer. Losing a family member or friend is hard. I know first hand.

The only comfort is knowing he’s at peace and he’s with the Lord.

I just ask that you just pray for his family – he leaves behind a wonderful wife and a wonderful grown son and daughter. And I ask that you cherish your loved ones, hang on to every moment, and tell them you love them every chance you get.

Life’s too short to not say I Love You every day.

Sorry for being the lame blogger, ‘debbie downer’, ‘malaise molly’ today. Posting heavy stuff isn’t typically my beat, but sometimes LIFE gets real and it’s cool to just be real every once in a while.

Don’t worry, I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled awkwardness and whatnot tomorrow.

all for now.
