You Might Not Know…

[Skirt: Lilly Pulitzer (similar) | Navy Top: JCrew (similar) | Cardigan: Target (similar) | Jacket: JCrew (old) | Boots: old | Bag: Target | Necklace: JCrew (warehouse sale)]

If you’ve read my blog before, you know I’m a sharer on here. I like to share. Whether it’s a story, a tip, an anecdote, my about page, or whatever… I share. However, if you’re a new reader or even if you’re a longtime friend of mine, there may be a few things you don’t know about me.

Five Things You May Not Know About Me:

  1. I was voted Class Clown my senior year of high school. Shocker, right?
  2. My first car was a 1994 Ford Escort, 5-speed manual transmission with a license plate that said “MOLLZIE.” Awesome. Right? That car was a piece, but was a great first car. Every teenager should have a first car like my Escort.
  3. I took French for eight years (1st-8th grade) yet I can barely remember how to introduce myself, say how old I am, or ask where the bathroom is. Also, I took Spanish in high school which REALLY messed me up. So now, when I try to speak in Spanish OR French is comes out Franish. Or Spench. Thus, no one understands what I’m saying. It’s tragic, really.
  4. The only sport I’ve ever been good at is golf. I’ve played basically my whole life and even was the captain of my varsity team in high school. (A varsity team made up of all boys, mind you).
  5. I have had a sip of coffee ONCE in my life and it was the grossest thing ever. Coffee and I are not friends. Nope. White chocolate peppermint mochas and I, however, ARE friends. Also, Diet Coke. We’re friends. But you knew that already.

What’s something I don’t know about YOU?

Ever After

[Outfit Deets: Skirt: Lilly Pulitzer | Shirt: Target | Denim Jacket: LOFT (similar) | Belt: Target | Sunnies: Target | Boots: Old (similar) | Necklaces: c/o Stella & Dot, Laura Jane]

You guys, FIRST off, I am guest posting for the fabulous Beth of Dot in the City today. Go over and check it out!

Onto today’s outfit. SO, this skirt is the skirt I got from the Lilly Pulitzer end of summer sale a few weeks ago. Originally $98, marked down to $29. WIN. I LOVE THIS SKIRT. It’s just one of those skirts that I know is going to be a good closet staple for years to come. You can wear it with boots in the fall or winter, or sandals in the spring or summer. I love it.

Can you tell I love it?

Also, let’s talk about my necklaces. When the fabulous Laura of StyleCharmLove sent me these Stella & Dot pieces to review, I’m not going to lie, I was really excited. I have had the Stella & Dot Signature Clover Necklace on my wish-list for years. YEARS, I tell you. It has quatrefoils on it. What more could I want?!

Isn’t it adorable?!

Laura also sent me the Ever After Necklace (no longer available in gold but available in silver!) and the minute I saw it I fell in love. It’s such an ADORABLE dainty necklace. It’s a classic piece that will go with ANYTHING.

I wore (and still wear) the two pieces together and get so many compliments when I wear them!

You should definitely check out Laura’s stuff – she is fabulous and so sweet. You can find Laura and StyleCharmLove on Facebook here or on Twitter @stylecharmlove. OR you can check out her Stella & Dot page here!

Also, since yesterday was Labor Day here in the states and many of you lucky ducks had the day off work, I’m including the fabulous folks who are linked up for #YOLOmondays below! Also, you should check them out OR you should link up yourself! WAHOO!

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

My Attempt at Fashion: Sherbert + Lilly is Dressy Casual?

You guys, it was a jammed-packed weekend. I am tired. Not even gonna lie to you.

But I’m looking forward to this week – MOSTLY cause I’m seeing DAVE MATTHEWS BAND ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. omgah y’all. I can’t wait. It’s okay if you’re not a Dave fan, but if you are, I’m sure you share in my excitement.

Anywho. I’m gonna get to the meat of today: makin’ that skirt dressy casual? Or something.

I have had this Lilly Pulitzer skirt for, again, what feels like forever. I think it’s from the fall line of 2007? MAYBE 2008, but I think 2007. I got it at the end of the season when it was on SALE, too!

I’ve always loved this skirt but haven’t worn it in a long time because I would only wear a white sweater or a white shirt with it and I felt like that was so boring. One thing that I’ve really loved about playing with patterns and colors and whatnot since I’ve really delved further into my fashion exploits, is I’ve become more daring in my pairing of outfits.

YES THAT RHYMED! Daring in my pairing! My golly, I am a nerd.

So yeah, I wanted to wear the skirt last week – especially since I love it’s flattering shape.

To the Ladies who have larger rears like yours truly: A-LINE SKIRTS / DRESSES ARE OUR FRIENDS!

So yeah, what do you think of this outfit? Love? Hate? Do you like the casual t-shirt with the dressier skirt and shoes? Do you have a skirt you never wear cause you feel like you can’t match anything with it?

[the photo below reminds me that i need to get back to weed-eating more often. dang sidewalk weeds].

My Attempt at Fashion: School Uniform? + Versatile Blogger!

You guys, per usual, I’m not gonna lie: I’ve had this outfit forever and I love it. However, every time I wear it I sometimes think I look like either:

A) a Catholic school girl in a school uniform of some kind (i.e. Mary Catherine Gallagher?),

B) a little kid,

C) I have no idea.

Yet, I still lurve this outfit. I mean, I know it’s not “conventionally” fashionable – but what does that really mean? Or is it? I don’t know. Still trying to figure all this out.

What do you think? Would you wear it? Do you like it?

[still awkward at the self portraits. i apologize, but i don't think i'm ever going to feel not awkward taking these]

[you know, trying to look pensive. or thinking about how stinkin' hot it is now in north carolina]

[you know, a close up to see detail?]

[i'd be remiss if i didn't take my standard thumbs up-mouth open shot]

Outfit Deets: White shirt: Theory (super old) | Green Vest: JCrew (super old) | Skirt: Lilly Pulitzer (super old) | Shoes: Kazuri Sandals (got ‘em in Kenya during my mission trip) | Bracelet: JCrew Warehouse Sale | Necklace: No idea.

BTW: I define “super old” as over 5 years old… yeah, I don’t shop much anymore haha. Huzzah for things that stay in fashion!

Also, I was, like, super honored when Bonnie of Mini Me Style gave me a “Versatile Blogger” award yesterday. I mean, I love her blog and when she commented and told me she’d named me one I was like WHAT?

That’s bananas.

Bonnie is a petite (5′ tall), PhD student (way smarter than me), lady blogger who mainly blogs about fashion for petite people (and just awesome people in general). I love her cause she has AWESOME style but is clearly super down to earth. I love this girl! So, thank you SO much, Bonnie!

I mean, I guess you could say I’m a versatile blogger in that I’ll blog about anything that’s on my mind. There’s been a lot of fashion posts lately, but I’ll blog about my wedding, food, crafts, bits, loving the Lord, and whatnot all the time. So I guess you could call that versatile! WOOP!

Anywho.

Rules for accepting the award:
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you
2. Write 7 random things about yourself
3. Pass on the love to other bloggers
My 7 Random Things:
  1. I played golf since I was two years old. I played on the varsity team (a team of all boys) in high school (was co-captain my senior year), and then coached a high school team for two years. I don’t play competitively anymore, but sometimes I wish I’d had.
  2. I taught high school English for two years after college. I loved that job. Sometimes I really miss teaching.
  3. I’m left-handed. South paws, FTW!
  4. I took French for nine years growing up (my elementary school had a French immersion program where I spent half my day in French class and half my day in English) – but I can barely speak a sentence now.
  5. When I was growing up, my family went camping a lot. We had a CB radio in our old 80s motor home – my CB radio handle was “Little Pony” – yeah, not creepy at all being 8 years old and talking to truck drivers with a handle like “Little Pony.”
  6. I won’t hang my legs or arms off the bed when I’m sleeping because I’m convinced a monster / predator / thief / bad person is going to grab it in the middle of the night and eat me alive.
  7. There was a restaurant next to my house in my hometown growing up that I LOVED. It was called The Tortilla Factory. I once ate there 76 days in a row in high school. Not ashamed. I miss that place more than I can say.

And here are 15 bloggers who are SUPER versatile. They’re fabulous. They’re photographers, writers, fashionistas, wedding people, pure awesomeness, and people that just plain crack me up.
