Senior Portraits - UNC Chapel Hill Photographer You may or may not know that in addition to my passion for writing, blogging, fashion, and life – I also have long had a passion for photography.

The truth is, I’ve ALWAYS been that girl with the camera. I have so much fun learning the ins and outs of my camera, coming up with interesting image ideas, and honestly just the creativity of it all.

And in the last year or so, I’ve really tried to take my passion and get even better. There’s SO MUCH to learn and I know that I’m nowhere near the level of a big-time photographer, but I’ve honestly been proud of how much I’ve grown over the past few years.

Anyway, these past few weeks I’ve had the pleasure of shooting some super fun senior portraits for a bunch of different UNC Chapel Hill students.

Each session was seriously a BLAST and it just reminded me how much FUN I have doing these. So, I thought I’d share some of my absolute FAVORITES!

Enjoy. :)

I told them this looked like the cover of the next Spice Girls album! I am OBSESSED with this picture. I got my inspiration for this one from one of my own engagement photos that our photographer Katelyn took. :)

So yeah, so many great women and I had such a fun time behind the camera.

While I’m not a full-time photographer, I am loving growing and learning and having a BLAST while doing it.

What about you? Do you have any hidden (or not so hidden) passions? Anything that you just LOVE to do and you never get sick of it?

Happy Tuesday!

I’m in Florida right now for a quick work trip and this is what I wore to the airport yesterday. If I’m gonna be on a plane, it’s all about comfort for me (AND ease of being able to take my shoes off for going through security).

Sure, nothing exciting or groundbreaking in fashion, but hey, this is one of those go-to outfits for me that’s comfortable and I can pretty much count on for any situation. Am I right?

What is YOUR go-to “travel” outfit?

High Five for Friday + 23 Weeks!

Friday High Fives

  1. My husband put up a little area in our backyard and a hammock for me! I’ve always wanted a hammock! Ohhhh the relaxing I’ll be doing this summer in this here hammock.
  2. My sweet friend Dani and I at her shower. I’m so blessed that God placed her in my life and I feel even MORE blessed that we’re going through our pregnancies together.
  3. I took some group portraits for the seniors of the Phi Mu chapter at UNC. I had so much fun spending time with them – made me miss my college years.
  4. Not exactly a highlight, but I went to the orthopedist this week because my right hand has been hurting really badly – and well, it turns out I have tendinitis. Yeah, no fun. So I gotta wear this brace for a few weeks. Lame.
  5. An evening on the new hammock with a vanilla, cookie dough, and Reese’s cup Twister from Andy’s… my kind of warm Spring evening.

What are YOUR highlights of the week?
second trimester maternity style - cobalt and white striped Old Navy jersey dress, yellow belt, cobalt Converse Chuck Taylor's - North Carolina Fashion BloggerHow far along: 23 weeks
How big is baby: 11 inches and about a pound and a half!
Weight gain: About 20 pounds. I was worried this was too much, but it appears I’m doing okay. My doctor doesn’t seem to be concerned which is good.
Sleeping: Spotty at best.
Food cravings: Cereal. Milk. Mandarin oranges.
Food aversions: Nada!
Symptoms: Tired, always. The newest symptom is dizziness. Like, REALLY dizzy. Sometimes I’m so dizzy I have to just lay down.
Miss Anything?: Sleeping on my stomach. Sleeping on my back. Sleeping well at all.
Doctor’s appointment: I had a doctor’s appointment last week and everything looks great! I’m measuring about a week ahead of schedule (which is okay), but baby is healthy and has a heartbeat of 140bpm!
Wedding Rings: Still on! BUT, on our walk last night, my right hand started to swell a lot – I don’t know if it’s because of my recent tendinitis diagnosis or what, but yeah.
Movement: YES! Baby is finally KICKING. It’s still pretty soft, but they’re definitely kicks. It’s such a sweet feeling. As creepy as this is, when baby starts moving, I find myself talking to the baby… asking how it’s day is going, etc… Is that weird?
Best moment of the week: Baby finally kicking!
What I’m looking forward to: Husband and I are going to start registering this week… or at least that’s the plan.
What I did / Got for baby: Nothing this week.
What I learned this week: Baby’s eyes are now sensitive to LIGHT and sound. I thought that was kind of cool.
Prayer requests: John and I are spending a lot of time in prayer just asking for God’s wisdom and grace as we prepare to become parents. I’m definitely feeling anxious about a few things and we’re just trusting God in everything – but the more prayers for this, the better! :) AND, of course, for the continued health and growth of the baby.

Happy Friday!

For Style or For Comfort?

Something that has long been debated in the “fashion” world – or I guess I should really say the general world – is “What is, ultimately, more important? Style or comfort?

Now, the truth is, this answer is going to be different for pretty much everyone. Some women will say STYLE and say that till they are blue in the face, while others will defend COMFORT till they’re blue in their Danskins.

It’s one of those “issues” that clearly is a non-essential issue, but still one that is interesting to be discussed or debated.

Me? Honestly? I tend to stand on the side of COMFORT. Sure, I have a few dresses that I absolutely LOVE that I can’t for the life of me breathe in or sit comfortably in. Sure, I have a few pair of stilettos that are comfortable for about the first 0.8 seconds and then I want to cut my feet off because cutting my feet off would be less painful than the pain I experience in those shoes. Sure, I have a few pair of earrings that are HUGE and hurt my ears after wearing them for longer than 15 minutes.

But, I would say, unless it is some super special occasion where the STYLE option really outweighs the COMFORTABLE option, I’m pretty much going to choose the latter every time. But, I will say, that I try very, very hard not to sacrifice style for comfort. But, that’s not to say that I haven’t before, because I certainly have.

Thankfully, this outfit fits, in my humble opinion, into BOTH categories – comfort AND style. Or style AND comfort. But that’s neither here nor there. The crazy comfortable striped maxi skirt, the comfortable tank top, the closet staple jean jacket, and my favorite Rainbow flip-flops – with their powers combined – they produce a comfortably stylish outfit. No?

Seriously though, those pieces that you come across that fit into both categories are, in my humble opinion, what you call the FASHION JACKPOT. And those pieces should be bought in every color. Or something.

So, what about you? Do you go for comfort or style? Do you sacrifice one for the other?
