You guys, I am a terrible liar. I mean, that’s not a bad thing, it’s just the truth. Truth is, I am just really easy to read. I wear every emotion I feel right on my face. So, every situation I’m in, if I feel the slightest bit of embarrassment, or anger, or sadness, or God forbid even the slightest inclination to fib, my face turns bright red.
It’s probably a combination of the fact that I’m crazy pale so the slightest change in skin tone is noticeable, or the fact that my conscience weighs heavily on me and it just shows all over the place.
I have no idea. Regardless, I hardly need to wear blush on my cheeks, because nature does it for me.
But that’s neither here nor there.
I wore this outfit yesterday and I loved the combination of the pink and red (two of my fave colors), but then I wondered if I was looking too “Valentine’s-Day-in-October”.
And then I remembered that I didn’t care. So, pink and red it ’twas.
You guys, I love social media. I posted this picture on Instagram last week and said “VEST OR NO VEST”? Sometimes I am super indecisive when I get dressed and sometimes something as simple as adding or removing a VEST can make or break an outfit.
So, I posted this picture and the question to the Instagram / Twitter / Facebook universe and oh boy did I get a TON of responses:
And consensus was? VEST.
I would be lying to you if I said I wore this outfit this week. It is TOO DANG HOT to be wearing something like this right now… BUT, I did wear this LAST week when it was a little cooler.
Some days I just don’t want to get “fancy” or “trendy” when I get dressed. I want to wear my favorite jeans, my favorite red Sauconys, and an old t-shirt. And then I might want to fancy it up with a vest.
But seriously. These jeans? Thems real old these jeans. I wanted these Dojo Seven Jeans forever when I was in high school. But I didn’t exactly have $180 to spend on jeans. So I stalked eBay and bought these puppies for $12 in 2002.
Since then, I have patched them not once, not thrice, not four times… but SIX times. I have patched these jeans SIX times.
The lady at the tailor where I get them patched keeps telling me I need to get new jeans. And in turn, I keep telling her to keep quiet and patch them.
Okay, I lied, I didn’t tell her to keep quiet, I just told her to patch them. They’re my favorite jeans ever and I refuse to get rid of them.
And these red tennis shoes? They’re 10+ year old Sauconys and I love them. I know tennis shoes aren’t “trendy” but guess what? I could care less. I LOVE THEM. They’re so comfortable. And BRIGHT RED. I mean, how fun are they? Sometimes a girl just wants to wear her favorite jeans, her favorite tennies, and a t-shirt.
Jeans: Seven for All Mankind, Dojo, via eBay
Shirt: Target (really old)
Vest:Express (really old)
Necklace: Gift from my mother-in-law
Shoes: Old red classic Sauconys
So, would you have gone VEST or NO VEST? Do you have a go-to-outfit that you wear when you just wanna rock old favorites?
Now on to the Weekly Round Up (in case you missed a post this week):
Like, I will grab something that I need here or there or snag a sweet deal at the Target clearance rack for $7 – but I rarely have money to actually spend time, SHOPPING. When you’re trying to save money like crazy and raise money for a mission trip – spending extra American dollhairs on clothes just ain’t in the cards.
One day, perhaps, but not right now… and I’m totally OKAY with that. Honestly, it’s been really fun remixing the stuff I already have.
But that’s honestly a conversation for another day.
SO, when I was in Vegas last week for work, the last night we were in Vegas, everyone went out for a big fancy dinner and then went to the club. Now, that’s totally fine – but I was SO tired and frankly – I just wanted to kinda be in my own zone. You know what I mean? Well, instead of spending my money on a fancy dinner and drinks – I went to the MALL right next to our hotel, got Chipotle for dinner (yeah, I got Chipotle in Vegas… sue me), and went SHOPPING.
Now, I didn’t go crazy, but it was fun to just walk around the mall and snag a few deals.
Also, the mall had a ZARA. Now, I lurve Zara, but there is NO ZARA NEAR ME. Sadface. Well, I was floored. Seriously, for a second whilst walking around The Zara, thought I was hyperventilating – they have so many pretty things there.
WELL, long, rambling story short, I snagged these blush pink jeans and this aztec printed top you see before you. And, all together, the jeans and top were only $50!! The jeans were on sale for $30 and the top was on sale for $20. NOT BAD, if you ask me!
SO yeah, I love this outfit. It might be my new favorite outfit right now. For reals. Now I paired it with the jean jacket in some of the photos for bits and giggles… but no way jose did I actually wear it all day – it is HOT AS ALL GETOUT here in North Carolina. My golly. And the humidity. SHEESH.
So, do you love the Aztec Print? Are you Zara-less where you live, too?
YES. So, either A) if you couldn’t understand me cause I was talking so fast, or B) you can’t watch the YouTubes at work, here’s the dealio:
STARTING THIS MONDAY, June 25th, 2012 – I am starting a WEEKLY MONDAY LINK-UP PARTY! YES!
It’s going to be called: #YOLOMONDAYS.
There are a ton of awesome Wednesday link-up parties, and Friday link-up parties, but I haven’t come across a sweet MONDAY LINK-UP (at least I haven’t found one yet...). And plus, doesn’t everyone traditionally “hate” Mondays? Don’t we all need a reason to LOVE Mondays?
Well, #YOLOMONDAYS is bringing the sexy back to MONDAYS.
You can link up here… EVERY MONDAY. What are you linking up? You ask…
WHATEVER YOU WANT.
It can be an outfit post, a DIY craft, a story, happenings from you weekend, a photo, musings, WHATEVER. It’s MONDAY and You Only Live Once (#YOLO)… so why not enjoy it and share what you want, right?! Right.
THUS, #YOLOMONDAYS has been born.
All I ask is that you link up something awesome and you include a link back on your blog – you know, so people that read your blog know what the #YOLOMONDAYS is all about. Plus, you wanna spread the Monday joy, right?! Right.
You can also use this nifty #YOLOMONDAYS graphic, too… if you like.
