Ehrmahgerd Rerd Berts! (Translation: Oh my gosh, Red Boots)

{{Boots: Boot Barn c/o

Although the title of this posts suggests, the actual text within this post has nothing to do with red boots. The photos do, but the text does not. Sometimes I like to share an outfit with you and really make no comments about it. I mean, you can see the photos yourself. I don’t really need to ‘splain myself. Right? Right.

Anyway. Rambling.

So, I was reading my daily devotional yesterday and read this scripture:

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” -Philippians 3:12

Then, somehow later that day, I came across this quote:

“The harder I work, the luckier I get.” -Samuel Goldwyn

I have goals. Lots of them. I have ideas. Lots of them. I have dreams. Lots of them. But ultimately, through those goals and ideas and dreams, I’m trying to sift through and figure out what is it exactly God put me on this earth to do?

I truly believe, within my heart of hearts, that we were all made for a purpose. We are all here with gifts and talents – and we should use them for good. Some people have a “calling.”

I’ve talked a lot on this blog about my struggle to find my real purpose or figure out what God has “called” me to do. And I guess it’s just been on my mind a lot lately – not for any particular reason.

And maybe that’s the nudge of the Holy Spirit saying, “Okay, I’m up here trying to point you in the right direction, but there you are being all stubborn and whatnot totally ignoring me.” Of course I’m not ignoring Him, my ears are just clogged. Or something.

Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say through ALL this rambling is, I don’t think there’s ever going to be a clear message from above saying, “Go, child. Do this. Exactly this. And nothing else.” You know, whatever that may be. But, I do think that those goals, ideas, dreams, nudges, “tugs” from the Holy Spirit, or whatever you want to call them, are the channels that look towards our ultimate vision. That vision may not totally be clear, but it’s there and we can see it – albeit fuzzy, but we’re starting to make it out.

But it’s not going to just happen. We’ve got to press on. We’ve got to keep working harder than the next guy. We’ve got to keep getting better. We’ve got to keep making mistakes and getting back up. Because eventually, the vision becomes clearer and we reach our destination.

Was that too deep for a Thursday?

Anyway. If you’ve made it this far, there’s a reward for you here at the end…

So I sort of fibbed when I said that the text had NOTHING to do with the red boots, because this section kind of does. Y’all know how much I LOVE my Shyanne boots from Boot Barn. I wear them a lot. Like, a lot. Well, there’s a PRETTY sweet giveaway – a $150 shopping spree to BOOT BARN, to be exact, happening on my Facebook page. Yeah, it’s a Facebook exclusive. So, check it out!

You guys, I miss being in school. NERD ALERT. Seriously. Especially college. I miss college so much. When I hear a younger friend or someone I know in college say they can’t wait to graduate, I feel like shaking them and saying “STAY HERE. STAY AS LONG AS YOU CAN.”

And when it’s this time of year and I see all the kiddos going back to school I get a wee jealous.

Things I miss about school:

  • School supplies. OHMYGOSH.ILOVESCHOOLSUPPLIES. Pens! Pencils! Dividers! TRAPPER KEEPERS! LISA FRANK! LISA FRANK TRAPPER KEEPERS! The best.
  • Movie days. I mean, showing up to class and having a movie day was the BEST.
  • Learning. I’m curious by nature, so I really, honestly, LOVED learning.
  • Recess. Okay, so I haven’t had recess in YEARS. Many years, but dudes, recess was the BEST. Four square! Dodge ball! Tether ball! Hide and go seek! So fun.
  • Nap time. Okay, so I haven’t had nap time since kindergarten which was 20+ years ago, but I still miss it.
  • Back to school shopping. A legit excuse to buy a new outfit? Sa-weet.
  • School supplies. Oh wait, I said that already.

Yeah, so anyway. Let’s play make believe together and say that I’m going back to school, shall we? And well, if I were going back to school, what you see in the photos above is what I would wear.

For now, I will wear this outfit to work.

Boom.

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

#YOLOmondays Link-up: BOOTS + a Cowboy Boot Giveaway! – CLOSED

You guys, when the AWESOME people at Boot Barn contacted me a while back and asked if I would be interested in trying out a pair of their Shyanne cowboy boots AND hosting a cowboy boot giveaway… I think I may have squealed a little bit. And, not to mention, they wanted to send my HUSBAND a pair of Cody James boots to review as well.

Needless to say the husband became extremely supportive of my blogging after that. :)

SIDE NOTE: I loved that they included a handwritten thank you note AND some beef jerky. My husband loved the beef jerky.

I. Love. These. Boots. I know you guys know this. I wear them ALL THE TIME. I can honestly, without a doubt, say that these are THE NICEST cowboy boots I have EVER owned.

As fun as they are, I actually have been pleasantly surprised as to how versatile they are. I have had A LOT of fun pairing them with different outfits.

And a note about Boot Barn’s customer service… SO, I’m going to be honest. When I first got the boots in the mail, I LOVED them… and then I put them on. And they were tight. REALLY tight. I mean, I was afraid. I thought they were too small. They hurt my ankles and I was nervous about them. I have larger calves so they were also a little snug around my calves.

WELL, I called their customer service line and the AMAZING rep on the line had me do some things to test whether or not the boots were ACTUALLY too small or if I just needed to break them in.

You see, pretty much all the boots I own previously have either been thrifted (so they’re already broken in) or they’re not as high quality, so they didn’t need to stretch.

The Shyanne boots are full-grain leather and so there’s a lot of stretching and breaking in that has to happen.

The rep had me do some tests (like jumping, walking, pushing my toes to see where they were, etc… I probably looked really silly ) – and I passed all the “tests”. The rep then said, “They’re just tight because they’re new and need to be broken in. Trust me, they fit you.”

And the rep was right. I needed to give them time. I’ve been breaking them in for the last month and I LOVE THEM. They fit AMAZING now and they’re SO comfortable. Seriously. SO SO SO SO comfortable.

I was SO appreciative that the rep went out of her way to help me and make sure they were the right fit. KUDOS… I wish I had written down her name. :(

I’m going to talk more later about tricks to breaking in your boots, but I can honestly say that I love these and I can’t wait to save up for another pair.

…NOW for my husband’s review of HIS boots!

Molly’s Husband: “Just to be clear, I had never had any problems with my former pairs of cowboy boots. Always liked the way they looked, the way they felt, etc. However, the first time I put on the Cody James boots, immediately, there was a noticeable difference.

“They’re sturdier, they fit better in the ankle, and they don’t have as much give (especially in the ankle). These are boots that I could easily chase down bad guys in. They fit so well that you can move that much better.

They broke in easy – just took a little while to get the soles roughed up so you’re not sliding all over the place.” -Molly’s Husband.

editor’s note: doesn’t husband look so hunky in his boots? i know i’m biased, but for real.

Red [Boots], White, and Blue

shyanne boots from boot barn, white, and blue - still being [molly] You guys, happy day after the Fourth of July! I know it’s not America’s birthday anymore, but hey that’s okay… doesn’t mean I can’t show you what I wore on America’s birthday.

We had just a couple friends come over for some pulled pork and hot dogs and some hanging out in the backyard. So it was low-key, but HOT. Oh so hot out, so at first I had this skirt number planned and then I quickly realized that shorts, a tank, and my new red boots were going to be just the trick.

I don’t usually love wearing just a tank top and shorts… but honestly, it was so hot out I didn’t really care all that much. BUT, I ended up actually kinda liking this outfit. Call me pleasantly surprised.

shyanne boots from boot barn, white, and blue - still being [molly] So, I will go ahead and get his out there: you’re gonna see a lot of these boots on the blog. You know how I love my cowboy boots. I mean, they’re kind of my thing. Right? Or something.

Well, the fabulous folks at Boot Barn sent me these amazing Shyanne boots and I could not love them more. Oh man. I love them. I love them. I love them. Did I mention I love them?

shyanne boots from boot barn, white, and blue - still being [molly] This isn’t my official “review” post cause they also sent a pair for the husband (which you know he was so pumped about) and I’m still working on breaking them in. BUT, I love them already. GAH.

Oh, and I got to REALLY work on breaking them in when one of our dogs, *cough* Tater *cough*, decided to do a little escape act after a cat and then I had to go sprinting around our neighborhood after her, whilst wearing these boots. Needless to say they held up EXTREMELY well considering I was BOLTING after her. Ugh. That dog. Gotta love ‘em.

shyanne boots from boot barn, white, and blue - still being [molly] HAHAH. Okay. SO, I’m posting the following four pictures in collage-form because I have no shame and I think they’re hilarious. I really wanted to try and do a “jumping picture.” I have no idea why, so don’t ask. However, I was not able to time it correctly with the self-timer and had a heck of a time trying to get a good jumping picture.

I have no idea what’s wrong with me LOL. So, I’m just posting these for your amusement.

shyanne boots from boot barn, white, and blue - still being [molly] Wow. Right? What’s that last one? I mean is that really an attempt at a jump? I have no idea. Anyway.

Back to the outfit and the boots.

shyanne boots from boot barn, white, and blue - still being [molly] I mean really, how gorgeous are these boots? ILOVETHEMSOMUCH. I can’t wait to really get ‘em good and broken in and tell you all about them.

Oh and I MIGHT be doing a little giveaway with them, too… who knows? ;)

shyanne boots from boot barn, white, and blue - still being [molly] Outfit Deets:

What did you do for the Fourth? Did you have to go chasing after your dogs? No? Just me? Good times.

Happy Thursday, y’all!

all for now.
